Scarlet-horned Manakin
The Scarlet-horned Manakin is a passeriforme of the family Pipridae.
Characteristics
It is 12.5 cm in length. The male is black with a red head on which the feathers of the hindcrown are elongated to form two “horns”. The thighs are also red and the iris is white. The female is olive-green with a paler belly. There is a slight tuft on the hindcrown and the iris is darker than the male's.
Food
Breeding
Costuma se exibir para as fêmeas durante o período reprodutivo, como outros representantes da família Pipridae, porém o número de machos que se reúnem para “dançar” é geralmente menor.
Habits
Varia de incomum a comum nos estratos baixo e médio de florestas úmidas e capoeiras maduras.
Distribution
Presente no Brasil apenas no Estado de Roraima, na região do alto Rio Branco. Encontrado também em parte da Venezuela e na região adjacente da Guiana.
